THE HISTORY OF THE CLASSIC NECKLACE
The CLASSIC Necklace is a timeless unisex piece of jewelry to wear every day or to enhance an evening outfit.
Previously seen quite thin and delicate around the necks of our elders, then thicker under the influence of Rap and Hip Hop, CLASSIC jewelry revisits the rope chain .
With a diamond-cut , the chain reflects the light and is enhanced with the ELIE signature star.
This is a versatile necklace that can be worn in different ways thanks to its adjustable ring: in a short version with the ELIE signature star hanging on the back, perfect for bare backs in summer or in the evening, and also in a long version, to wear with an oversized t-shirt for a streetwear look.
To make this piece of jewelry adjustable, the designers thought carefully about its design . They explored several options in collaboration with their design team, and it took some time to achieve an aesthetically pleasing result.
Indeed, the real challenge was that the rope chain could not be cut, at the risk of compromising the solidity of the entire jewel.
Initially, the designers had considered a sliding ball system, but this proved impractical due to the excessive thickness of the chain, which would have made the jewel appear too imposing.
Then, a stopper system with a clasp placed in the middle of the chain was considered, but the aesthetic result was still not satisfactory.
After a careful selection process, the designers opted for the use of a jump ring , a small ring in the middle of the chain, to attach the clasp. Its oval shape was specially chosen to align perfectly with the chain, thus ensuring a discreet and minimalist appearance.
This adjustable necklace was entirely handmade by the skilled design teams at ELIE Paris Montréal.
